Packaging equipment OEM, Syntegon, is using Interpack 2026 to launch neXt, a system architecture it describes as an integrated automation solution for food packaging lines. Rather than a single machine platform, neXt combines hardware, software and AI-assisted decision support under three organizing principles: Seamless Operation, Smart Decisions and Touchless Automation.

The concept targets familiar pressure points in food production — operator shortages, frequent format changes, compliance demands and the growing variety of pack sizes. Seamless Operation focuses on standardized interfaces and guided format changeovers; the new TRX topload cartoning platform is claimed to achieve changeovers in ten minutes with a reduced set of format parts. Smart Decisions connects machine platforms to cloud and on-machine software, including AI-based quality control and real-time OEE monitoring. Touchless Automation pushes towards unmanned running through autonomous material supply and AMR-based reel and blank handling.
Two new machine platforms debut as neXt building blocks at the show: the HFX flow-wrapper for primary packaging and the TRX topload cartoner for secondary packaging. Both are described as modular, retrofit-capable and designed for long-term scalability.
Syntegon also claims PPWR compatibility and energy efficiency as part of the neXt proposition, positioning the architecture as an investment in both productivity and regulatory readiness.
