The early 2000s were an exciting time for RFID technology.
What with, the Walmart deal, the Department of Defense rollout and big gains in asset tracking and other applications.
There was also some pushback from individuals and groups concerned about privacy issues with this technology.
In New Hampshire, a bill was introduced that would regulate the use of RFID technology in the state.
I was invited to take part in a hearing for the bill – it was super interesting and quite entertaining as well. I must say, a lot of the concerns of the anti-RFID people did come to pass in future years, although not with that technology.
