While there have been a lot of advances in flexible packaging, the construction of the films traditionally used for the packages has caused problems when it comes to recycling.
Mars China, collaborating with industry partners like P&G, PepsiCo, and Dow, has initiated the “Flexible Plastics Reborn” project to address plastic packaging recycling challenges in China.
This project focuses on creating a sustainable collection and recycling system for flexible plastic packaging. The new SNICKERS® dark chocolate cereal bar features mono-material packaging designed for this initiative, promoting easy recycling.
The SNICKERS® dark chocolate cereal bar features individual packaging made from recyclable mono-polypropylene material, aligning with the principle of “Designed For Recycling”, and meeting relevant Chinese standards.
This allows the packaging to be easily collected and recycled via conventional channels.
In addition to the more sustainable primary packaging, the secondary packaging uses materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
It’s nice to see sustainability being taken seriously by large corporations.
