New Inks From Kao Collins for HP Inkjet

HP’s thermal inkjet (TIJ) systems have been used in industrial applications for at least 20 years, and the technology continues to grow market share relative to other product coding concepts.

One of the key reasons for the continued growth has been the development of compatible inks – especially formulations that can produce good results on non-porous materials such as packaging films and foils.

While HP has contributed much of the ink development, a lot of work has been carried out by independent companies that are licensees of HP’s Technology.

One is Kao Collins, an ink manufacturer launching two new inks for HP coders at Pack Expo.

The two new inks are SIGMA+ and Pitch Black are both designed especially for HP printheads and meet EuPIA and REACH SVHC compliance standards. They are both non-CMR and PFAS-free, meeting the latest regulatory requirements.

Sigma+ is a new addition to Kao Collins’ range of solvent-based inks, ideal for use on non-porous materials. It is said to produce extremely durable print and has a long decap time (the length of time the printhead can be left uncapped, without the ink clogging the nozzles) of 16 hours.

“The newest member of our SIGMA family pushes boundaries with its unmatched durability, longer decap time, and superior performance. It helps companies achieve greater efficiency by minimizing downtime and waste while delivering
higher-quality prints.”

The other new ink, Pitch Black is a aqueous dye-pigment, engineered for use on porous materials, such as wood, corrugated and uncoated paper.

As the name suggests, Pitch Black ink produces a dense, high-contrast image.

Pitch Black ink, also provides an extended 16-hour decap time, helping to improve efficiency and reduce maintenance.

Visitors to Pack Expo International will be able to see the new inks and the other products in the Kao Collins line up at booth S-4243.
