At the FESPA Global Print Expo 2025, that takes place in Berlin in May, digital printing specialist AstroNova is launching the VP-800, a new printing system designed to print on a variety of sustainable packaging materials, including corrugated cardboard, die-cut boxes, padded or plain envelopes, paper bags, and wood.

The VP-800 is using technology from MTEX, a digital printing brand based in Portugal that AstroNova acquired in 2024 and is integrating into its Product Identification business segment.
“We’ve designed these machines to give converters and PSPs the edge they need: more control, more uptime, and significantly lower operating costs. Because of the flexibility of our new print engine system there is greater commonality of components across our products enabling further flexibility for support and future upgrades that addresses inventory requirements for the users and ourselves.”
~ Greg Woods, CEO of AstroNova
The VP-800 printing system is designed to handle medium print runs, bringing the benefits such as flexibility, uptime and lower print costs to converters and print service providers.

AstroNova is also launching new updates to its range of digital label presses.
There are two new models, the QL-425 (A4 or 210mm wide) and QL-435 (A3 or 297mm wide).
As with the VP-800 system, these two new label printers utilize MTEX print and management technology to optimize the printing process.
The print engine is capable of producing excellent color print quality at up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi.
