How do you improve recycling operations?
One thing that can help is getting better data on exactly which products are going through recycling streams, and that’s where Polytag can help.

Polytag has announced the installation of four Polytag Plastic Detection Units in Material Recycling Facilities (MRFs) in Wales, joining similar systems that are operating in England and Northern Ireland
As part of Polytag’s Ecotrace solution, the Plastic Detection Units scan the packages for UV-visible tags embedded in the label artwork. The data collected lets brands track when and where their plastic packaging is recycled, filling a gap in the data process.
“Wales is already a leader in recycling, currently holding the UK’s highest average recycling rate at a very impressive 66.5%. Installing these four new Plastic Detection Units across the country takes this success even further. It will generate invaluable data on what is being recycled and when, empowering brands to take full responsibility for their recycled packaging while also striving to increase that number even more.
Alice Rackley, CEO of Polytag
As Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation comes into force, presenting accurate data on how many of a brand’s packages are recycled will be essential to complying with it and reducing possible costs. Polytag’s Ecotrace concept is likely to be a key tool in providing this data.
