IMA Labeling to Show Linerless Technology and Electro-Adhesion at Interpack 2026

IMA Labeling will demonstrate enhanced technologies at Interpack 2026, where IMA Group will occupy an extensive space in Hall 17 from 7 to 13 May in Düsseldorf.

Linerless labeling for sustainability

The centerpiece for the show is ZERO, a linerless print-and-apply system developed in conjunction with UPM and using Zebra Technologies print engines. By eliminating the liner, the system reduces material waste, extends roll length and cuts changeover frequency. The UPM OptiCut direct thermal labels used with ZERO labelers carry CarbonNeutral certification across their full lifecycle.

Alongside the equipment, IMA Labeling and UPM have developed an interactive tool called Label Your Impact, which allows visitors to input their own production parameters and see projected figures for material savings, waste reduction and environmental impact.

Electro-adhesion as an alternative to mechanical label handling

Another technology on show is ION, which uses controlled electrostatic forces to stabilize labels during transfer from the print engine to the product rather than relying on mechanical handling. The company claims this improves application accuracy and reduces micro-deviation at high speeds, while allowing label changeovers without requiring a change of the applicator pad.

IMA Labeling will be exhibiting as part of the wider IMA Group presence across Hall 17, which spans pharmaceutical, food and personal care applications.
