Is your company looking to adopt the new GS1 2D barcodes for the Sunrise 2027 program?
If so, one thing you’ll need to address is the size of the barcodes you print on your packages—especially if you use the GS1 Digital Link format, which can contain a lot of data.
The standards organization has produced a useful tool that allows you to enter your data and get a good estimate of the finished Digital Link barcode size – from the smallest possible to the largest possible.
See this short video showing some of the features of this new tool:
Knowing the size of the barcode (including its quiet zone area) is important for your package graphics team, which has to ensure the correct amount of space is reserved for the barcode on the printed package.
You packaging operations folk also need to know the size and density of the barcodes so they can specify the best printer technology and size to accurately print the new barcodes on your packages.
