Honeywell Selling Productivity Solutions Business to Brady Corp

Some years ago, Honeywell went on a spending spree, acquiring a number of barcode and label printing brands, such as :

  • Barcode and RFID pioneer, Intermec
  • Printing equipment manufacturer, Datamax-O’Neil
  • Handheld Products (HHP), barcode scanners and mobile computers
  • LXE, barcode scanning and rugged mobile computers
  • Metrologic, more barcode scanning
  • Vocollect, voice technology for warehouse applications such as picking

Since I had personally worked with most of these brands, I was sorry to see them disappear into the giant Honeywell organization.

Fast forward to today, and Honeywell has announced it is selling its Productivity Solutions and Services (“PSS”) business (where these former brands have lived) to Brady Corporation.

Personally, I think this is a positive thing, since the products will be more at home in a more identification-focused organization than being a very small part of Honeywell.
