FOX IV Large Format Print and Apply at MODEX 2026

US labeling systems specialist FOX IV Technologies is launching two new print-and-apply systems at MODEX 2026, and the 8008 system for large label sizes has caught my attention.

Wide-format labeling has always been a niche challenge. Standard print-and-apply systems can handle labels up to about 6” wide, but sometimes larger label sizes are needed for drums, barrels, pails, and industrial pallet applications. The new 8008 addresses that directly, printing and applying labels up to 8.75″ wide with an 8.5″ print width – territory where most conventional systems simply can’t go.

The print technology is from TSC/Printronix, running at 203 or 300 dpi, and the system supports multiple printer language emulations, including Zebra ZPL and SATO SBPL. With so many applications using Zebra or SATO printers, a smart design choice: facilities running mixed printer fleets can integrate the 8008 without having to rewrite label formats from scratch. Label roll capacity is 14″ OD, and application methods include tamp, tamp-roll, rotary actuator, and vacuum belt, with custom options available.

Control is via an Allen-Bradley PLC with a colour touchscreen HMI, which will be familiar to most production and integration teams.

A companion launch for FOX IV is the new 5961 Compact print-and-apply labeler, aimed at the opposite end of the spectrum: lines where space is restricted or need to print and apply small labels, down to 0.79” x 0.5”. Printing duties are handled by a  Zebra ZE511 engine, with print resolutions up to 600 dpi.

FOX IV also had RFID print-and-apply, linerless labeling, and dual-sided TwinPrint systems on the stand.
