When it comes to laser coding on high-speed packaging lines, such as those in beverage operations, the laser must have sufficient power to keep up with the extreme speeds.
Product coding specialist Domino has launched a new 100 Watt laser, the Dx1060i, engineered specifically for these demanding applications.

The new Dx1060i is a CO2 laser and can be configured with wavelengths of 9.3, 10.2, and 10.6 μm, allowing the system to code a wide variety of packaging materials.
Obviously, a laser this powerful generates a lot of heat during operation, and Domino offers the Dx1060i with two cooling options: an IP54 version that is fan-cooled and an optional IP65 version that is water-cooled. The system controller is certified to IP55.
The Dx1060i gives our customers the power and flexibility they need to keep beverage production running efficiently. It supports evolving international standards, helps reduce waste, and is built to meet future regulatory requirements, including GS1 and 21CFR Part11 compliance.”
~ Frauke Schroeder, Senior Product Manager – Laser, Domino.
The new Dx1060i includes all the connectivity and options from the other lasers in Domino’s Dx line-up, including multiple beam delivery options to aid integration. With Domino’s range of lenses, marking fields of up to 379×582 mm can be obtained, making the laser ideal for use on multilane packaging machines, such as for stickpacks and sachets.
With its enhanced speed and power, it is likely to be of interest to packagers needing to add the new GS1 2D barcodes or FDA UDI information to their products.
