Chicago Coding Systems (CCS) has announced the launch of the LM3612 Custom Syringe Labeling System. Intended to help pharmaceutical companies improve productivity, the system includes labeling technology from LabelMill, a CCS partner.
The system addresses what CCS describes as the “small-diameter dilemma”: accurately applying flag labels to syringes and vials with minimal usable surface area. To handle the mechanical demands, CCS partnered with fellow Illinois manufacturer LabelMill, whose heavy-duty labeling heads form the core of the system. The labeling components are produced at LabelMill’s facility in Savanna, IL and then integrated with CCS’s digital control architecture. Variable data is printed on the labels using a thermal transfer print engine.

On the inspection and verification side, the LM3612 incorporates Cognex scanning for real-time barcode-readability checks and natively connects to CCS’s Autoscan platform for data logging and print verification. Operators interact with the system via a touch interface, giving access to diagnostics, inspection logs, and live performance data.
CCS system is a single-source, integrated solution rather than a system assembled from off-the-shelf components. Product can be loaded by an operator or a robot, increasing the level of flexibility. For low-volume pharmaceutical lines handling syringes and vials, where labeling errors carry serious compliance consequences, the LM3612 is an interesting new option.
